Disney just released the first teaser poster for their anticipated dramatic thriller, The Finest Hours. And, as promised, we’ve now got the first trailer to share.
Based on real events, The Finest Hours boasts an all-star leading cast in the form of Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, and Ben Foster. That’s all I need to know to guarantee my price of admission. But it doesn’t hurt one bit that this first trailer looks like a very strong affair.
The Finest Hours tells the true tale of how in 1952, a Noreaster hit the New England coast, and two oil tankers were caught in the middle. The ships split in two, casting its crews into the ferocious seas, and it was up to the valiant effort of the coast guard to attempt a rescue.
John Ortiz, Holliday Grainger, and Eric Bana round out the leading ensemble, with support from Graham McTavish, Kyle Gallner, Rachel Brosnahan, Josh Stewart, Abraham Benrubi, and Beau Knapp.
Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl, Million Dollar Arm) is behind the camera. And Oscar nominees Paul Tamsay and Eric Johnson (The Fighter) have penned the script, adapting the original non-fiction book by Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias.
The Finest Hours will be released in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on January 29th, 2016 in the US and UK.
