Comic-Con: 4 First Character Posters for Mad Max: Fury Road with Tom Hardy & Charlize Theron

Mad-Max:-Fury-Road-Character-Poster-Charlize-Theron-sliceFor Warner Bros. to be willing to release Mad Max: Fury Road just two weeks after Avengers: Age of Ultron hits cinemas shows they must have a lot of faith in the blockbuster reboot.

Age of Ultron might well make most of its money in its first two weeks, but it’s bound to be a film with very strong legs, and inevitably that has an impact on other titles opening in successive weeks, hence Warner Bros.’ faith.

Earlier in the week, the studio teased a great first teaser poster for the Tom Hardy-led post-apocalyptic actioner, and now they’ve launched a set of four character posters for some of the leading players.

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.

Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

And… Furiosa (played by CHARLIZE THERON from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

Tom Hardy leads the all-star cast, and his firepower alone is enough to get excited about this. The film will be making its first appearance at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, and Warner Bros. has pre-launched the Comic-Con poster that will be available for signings at the convention.

First-Look Images: Ethan Hawke & January Jones in Andrew Niccol’s Good Kill

Ethan-Hawke-and-January-Jones-in-Good-Kill-sliceAfter returning to sci-fi with his most recent two features, Andrew Niccol is back in thriller territory this year and he’s bound for the festival circuit. Good Kill was announced as part of TIFF 2014’s initial line-up last night, and I can’t wait to hear the reception.

Interestingly, it’s noted as being the film’s North American premiere, which means a debut at Venice certainly seems plausible, if a little unexpected.

Ethan Hawke continues to keep his credits diverse by taking the lead here, and these first images give a nice early look at him alongside co-star January Jones.

A troubled Air Force officer (Ethan Hawke) charged with directing drone strikes enters a moral minefield as the rationale for targeting purported terrorists becomes ever more murky, in this bold, challenging and timely drama from writer-director Andrew Niccol (Gattaca, Lord of War).
