Kevin Smith, Gary Shore & More to Direct Horror Anthology Holidays for XYZ Films

Kevin-Smith-Gary-Shore-More-to-Direct-Holidays-Horror-AnthologyFounded just seven years ago, production and sales company XYZ Films has quickly established itself as one of the leading producers in genre entertainment, with recent efforts including The Raid and its sequel, Justin Benson’s award-winning Spring, and Kevin Smith’s sophomore horror, Tusk. Now the company has announced that it has already put together its first horror anthology, Holidays, with Kevin Smith high up on the list of directors for one of the segments.

Deadline reports that XYZ has partnered with John Hegeman’s newly-launched genre label, Distant Corners Entertainment, to produce the feature-length anthology, which is already in production. Continue reading

New ‘Moments Worth Paying For’ Trailer & IMAX Poster for Dracula Untold with Luke Evans

Dracula-Untold-IMAX-Poster-sliceEvery bloodline has a beginning, and Dracula Untold will take us back to the start, bringing to the big screen an origin story of how Vlad Tepes went on to become the most notorious vampire the world has ever known.

Universal has been doing a great job of selling the dark fantasy, really the first with this kind of flavour we’ve seen in a good few years. We were recently treated to the first clip and a quartet of TV spots, and now the studio has partnered up with FindAnyFilm to continue the latter’s ‘Moments Worth Paying For’ campaign, as well as launching a new IMAX poster for the blockbuster movie.

Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6, Immortals) stars in Dracula Untold, the origin story of the man who became Dracula. Gary Shore directs and Michael De Luca produces the epic action-adventure that co-stars Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, and Diarmaid Murtagh.

At the start of the month, they launched an impressive new trailer for the fantasy blockbuster, and as its early-October release date inches closer, the first clip has landed online, along with four new TV spots.

Luke Evans Turns to Darkness in New Trailer for Dracula Untold

Dracula-Untold-Poster-sliceIt’s been a good few years since we last saw fantasy and horror combine for a Halloween blockbuster, and Legendary looks to be tapping into a fairly underrepresented market here with Dracula Untold, which could play very well in their favour in a few weeks’ time.

Luke Evans takes the lead in the origin story, starring as Vlad Tepes, who goes on to become the notorious Dracula known to us all today. Marking one of the first partnerships with Universal following Legendary’s parting of ways with Warner Bros., the film launched a promising first fantasy-fuelled trailer two months ago to a great reception from audiences.

There’s just over a month left on the clock before it arrives on our shores, and about a month and a half before it lands in the US, and now they’re back with a second trailer, promising plenty of action on the big screen next month.

First Teaser Poster for Universal & Legendary’s Dracula Untold with Luke Evans

Dracula-Untold-Poster-sliceOne of the most interesting moves behind the scenes in recent years was the end of Warner Bros. and Legendary’s long-running partnership, and it didn’t take long for Legendary to set up shop at Universal. Dracula Untold marks the first partnership for the studio and production company, and could well launch a new franchise for the duo.

The film has been in the works at Universal for a good few years, and it’s finally getting to see the light of day at the end of the year. With four months left on the clock, the first teaser poster has arrived, giving us our first look at Luke Evans as Bram Stoker’s mythic character.

The synopsis is still being kept under wraps for now, but we know that it’s going to be an origin story, telling the tale of how Vlad Tepes became the notorious figure known as Dracula. Continue reading
