Mike Cahill’s I Origins Set for September UK Release Date

I-Origins-BannerFans of Mike Cahill’s acclaimed narrative debut, Another Earth, can finally sleep easy. Until now, his award-winning sophomore feature, I Origins, has remained without a release date, but it looks like that’s finally changed.

The sci-fi/drama began its limited release in the US this time last week under distributor Fox Searchlight, opening in just four cinemas and taking a respectable $27,652. The film is set to expand over the next few weeks, opening today in Canada, and now Fox’s UK arm is set to release the film on our shores on September 26th.

Cahill reunites with frequent collaborator Brit Marling, with Marling joined by Michael Pitt (Boardwalk Empire), Astrid Bergès-Frisbey (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tide), and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead).

I ORIGINS, the second feature film from writer and director Mike Cahill, tells the story of Dr. Ian Gray (Michael Pitt), a molecular biologist studying the evolution of the eye. He finds his work permeating his life after a brief encounter with an exotic young woman (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey) who slips away from him. As his research continues years later with his lab partner Karen (Brit Marling), they make a stunning scientific discovery that has far reaching implications and complicates both his scientific and spiritual beliefs. Traveling half way around the world, he risks everything he has ever known to validate his theory.
