12 Years a Slave, American Hustle & Breaking Bad lead 71st Golden Globe Nominations

71st-Golden-Globe-Awards-NominationsLike every big awards ceremony, there are many reasons to look forward to the Golden Globe Awards. For starters, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be back to host the ceremony next month. And for another, more specific to the Golden Globes, the awards recognise the best in both film and television.

As we rapidly head towards next month’s Oscar nominations announcement, Aziz Ansari, Zoe Saldana, and Olivia Wilde have done us the honour of announcing the 71st Golden Globe Awards nominations today, with Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave and David O. Russell’s American Hustle leading the motion picture categories, as somewhat expected.

The Coen brothers’ masterful return with Inside Llewyn Davis earns recognition in a handful of categories, too, including Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Best Actor in the same category for Oscar Isaac (a very well-deserved nod for the ever-rising actor), and in the Best Original Song category for Please Mr. Kennedy.
